In 2012, Andrew Garfield succeeded Maguire in The Amazing Spider-Man, a role that Garfield reprised for a sequel in 2014. Sony kicked things off with 2002's Spider-Man, the beginning of a Sam Raimi-directed trilogy that starred Tobey Maguire in the titular role until 2007.
